AI Impact Summit is the fourth in the series of AI global summits. This summit has been organized by India on 19-20 February, 2026 in New Delhi. It focuses on three components: People, Planet, and Progress, which prescribe its three broad goals:
1. People- AI must serve humanity in all its diversity, preserving dignity and ensuring inclusivity.
2.Planet- AI innovation must align with environmental stewardship and sustainability.
3.Progress- AI’s benefits must be equitably shared, advancing global development and prosperity.
Delhi Declaration:
The Delhi Declaration issued at the end of Summit was signed by 92 countries including the US and China. The main points of this Declaration are:
1.The Summit was inspired by India’s civilizational principle of ‘Sarvajan Hitay, Srvajan Sukhay’, which underlines that AI’s promise is best realized only when its benefits are shared by entire humanity.
2. The summit calls for international cooperation on the seven identified areas of AI known as ‘Seven Chakras’: AI for social and economic development; developing human capital; inclusion for social empowerment; Safe and Trusted AI; development of AI science; Resilience, Innovation and Efficiency; and Democratization of AI Resources.
3. The Declaration resolved for democratization of AI Resources to enhance the accessibility of AI resources to all. It would be critical to enabling all countries to develop, adopt and deploy AI for the benefit of their citizens. During the Summit, the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI was adopted.
Other points of this declaration are: adoption of separate initiative known as Global AI Impact Commons, secure, trustworthy and robust AI, continuous scientific development of Innovation, AI for social empowerment and Human resource development.
Since all the points of declaration are based on a voluntary and non-binding framework, all the participant including the US signed the Charter. The US was not willing to undertake any responsibility for mandatory obligations under the democratization of AI to other countries.
Why All countries including the US signed the Delhi Declaration?
The US did not sign the declaration of AI Action Summit (2025) which was jointly hosted by India and France in Paris in February, 2025. But The US also signed the Delhi Declaration issued during the AI Impact Summit. Why? Because the Delhi Declaration does not make any binding commitment for signatories. The provisions of Delhi Declaration are voluntary. In fact, the US follows a market approach to the development and use of AI, which is against imposing any restriction on the AI evolution and us. Thus, if any Delectation contains some binding commitment and regulation of the AI, the US will not sign such document. On the other hand, India and many other countries like France, Germany and the UK want global regulations on the development and use of AI to ensure its safely and prevent its misuse.
AI Impact Summit: A Background:
AI impact summit held in New Delhi is the fourth in series of such global summits.
The First AI summit was held at Bletchley, London, in Britain in November, 2023. The Bletchley Declaration, signed at the end of summit pleads that the AI should be designed, developed, deployed, and used safely. This summit focused on the safety concerns in the use of AI. This Declaration was signed by 28 countries including India.
The Second AI Summit was held in Seoul, South Korea in May 2024. The Seoul AI summit resolved to move towards implementation of a network of AI Safety institutes and voluntary commitments from major tech companies on risk management in the use of AI.
The Third AI Summit, known as AI Action Summit was held on 10-11 February, 2025 in Paris. The India Prime Minister Co-Chaired this summit with French President. The primary aim of this summit was to collectively establish scientific foundations, solutions, and standards for a more sustainable and ethical development of Artificial Intelligence. It resolved for working towards collective progress and the public interest. However, the US has not signed the final declaration of AI Action Summit, as she does not want any restriction on the use and growth of AI.
